Ingrid Brodnig is an Austrian author and journalist. In 2016 she published her book "Hass im Netz" (English translation: "hatred online") about hate speech and abusive comments online. In 2017 she published "Lügen im Netz" (English translation: Lies online) about misinformation and populists' tactics in the digital media landscape. In 2017 she was named Austria's Digital Champion for the European Commission, an honorary position to promote digital skills within Europe. She works as a columnist for the Austrian news magazine Profil and has received several awards, e.g. the Bruno Kreisky Sonderpreis for political books and the EU Young Journalist Award. Her current work focuses on public debate online and how digital platforms are shaping it.
